So you think you found yourself a good man because he is caring, compassionate and considerate. So recently I was at a funeral and this ‘fass’ (inquisitive) woman who don’t look like she weigh 90 pounds soaking wet (even with a 6 inch block tied to her feet) came up to me seemingly to greet me but really to be a bitch as the first thing out her mouth was ‘lawd Nikki you fat eeh?”.
In a world where looks is important, I have never been worried about my own as I know while I am not a supermodel, I’m also not Shrek’s baby sister. We live in a society preoccu-pied with how you look, your size and your weight. Now while I acknowledge that we should strive to be healthy, when every woman strives to be a size 2 or a zero that is absolutely ridiculous as we black women especially were born with more curves that Mount Rossier so we have to take into consider that we have hips, ass and everything in between.
For me Lupita’s win at the Golden Globes and now the Oscars has so much significance. She became the toast of Hollywood and social media. Yes we have many black actresses doing great and holding their own but most had a particular hue.
