It is often said that ‘if a child does not learn, a teacher did not teach’, and while some may take umbrage at this sentiment, there are many teachers who wished that parents would teach their children a thing or two before unleashing them on the wider society.
When did we become our parents?
A few years ago there was a play that debuted in Kingston called ‘Not About Eve’ in which I saw my mother play an elderly woman. It was obvious to me that she drew inspiration from my grandmother and the nuances and characterization was spot on, so much so that I couldn’t stop laughing. It was uncanny how she embodied my granny to a tee. I guess being with her all her life made it easy to play her.
